The German Coeliac Society (Deutsche Zöliakiegesellschaft – DZG) was founded in 1974 with 55 members and has since grown to over 40,000 members.
Its mission is to support individuals with coeliac disease and Dermatitis Herpetiformis Duhring while raising awareness about the condition and improving the quality of life for those affected in Germany. To achieve this, the organization funds medical research projects and advocates for better public understanding of coeliac disease.
DZG also gathers information on food and pharmaceutical ingredients from manufacturers, providing its members with essential guidance to help them avoid gluten. Additional details about its services are available at the society's office, with some resources also accessible in English.
